The US Open second round begins Wednesday with Novak Djokovic aiming for a record 25th Grand Slam, Aryna Sabalenka continuing her title defence, and American Ben Shelton meeting veteran Pablo Carreño Busta.

Djokovic, who has gone seven majors without a title, risks completing two full years without a Slam for the first time since 2010 if he falls short in New York.

The 38-year-old overcame Learner Tien in straight sets despite a blister issue and next faces 22-year-old Zachary Svajda. On the women’s side, Sabalenka opened with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Rebeka Masarova and now faces Polina Kudermetova, whom she previously beat in Brisbane.
