The 2025 U.S. Open, golf’s third major of the year, is set to commence Thursday at the legendary Oakmont Country Club, renowned as one of the sport’s most challenging venues. The USGA has released the opening round pairings, featuring an array of marquee groups that promise excitement for fans and fierce competition for players.

Among the most anticipated morning groups is the trio of Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau, and Jose Luis Ballester, who will tee off from No. 1 at 7:29 a.m. ET. This group brings together the reigning Open champion (Schauffele), U.S. Open champion (DeChambeau), and U.S. Amateur champion (Ballester), offering a showcase of elite talent and recent major success.

Simultaneously, European Ryder Cup veterans Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, and Rory McIlroy will begin their campaign from No. 10 at 7:40 a.m. ET. Their chemistry and experience are expected to make this grouping a highlight of the morning session.

The afternoon wave is headlined by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who begins his quest for a first U.S. Open title and a fourth career major at 1:25 p.m. Scheffler is paired with Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa, both major champions in their own right. Just ahead of them, at 1:14 p.m. off No. 10, three former U.S. Open champions—Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, and Dustin Johnson—will tee off together, providing a compelling mix of experience and star power.
