Coco Gauff entered the US Open quarterfinals for the very first time after her victory over Shuai Zhang. Gauff’s fans went berserk over her victory, screaming so loudly that her opponent had to cover both her ears with her hands to shield them from the "boom".

The 18-year-old rising tennis star was extremely excited after she beat China’s Zhang 7-5, 7-5. Following her victory on Sunday, Coco Gauff became the youngest American tennis player to reach the US Open quarterfinals ever. She will be up against French national Caroline Garcia. In earlier seasons of the US Open, Gauff was restricted to only the third round of the tournament.

Gauff’s victory over the 33-year-old veteran, Shuai Zhang, was a hard-fought one, as Zhang’s renowned skills were on display on Sunday. However, the Chinese player failed to maintain composure at crucial moments, which caused her to lose the match. In fact, Zhang had a great opportunity to level the scores in the second set when she broke Gauff to leave serving at 5-3.

Gauff, on the other hand, managed to break Zhang twice to clinch her maiden quarterfinal appearance, staking her winning streak to four games. The American player had a successful run in 2022. Earlier in June, the young athlete reached the final of the French Open, where she lost the battle to Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek, who was riding a 34-match winning streak.
