The Nevada Secretary of State’s office and county election officials have outlined the election calendar. Here are seven dates to remember if you plan to vote, as per a report by The Nevadan.
Which Nevada election deadlines should you mark on your calendar?
September 4: Last day to opt out of mail ballotsNevada automatically mails ballots to all active registered voters. If you want to receive one, there is nothing you need to do. But if you would rather not get a ballot by mail, September 4 is the last day to opt out.
October 5 to October 12: Mail ballots begin arriving
Nevada voters will receive mail ballots during this period. Nevada voters must check that the county election office has an address. An outdated address could make it harder for Nevada voters to receive a mail ballot.
October 17 to October 30: Early voting begins
You do not need to wait until November 3 to vote. Early in-person voting starts on October 17. Ends on October 30. Voters can use any early voting site in their county.
This period also gives voters a chance to register and vote on the same day. First-time registrants should bring an accepted Nevada ID, such as a state driver’s license Nevada ID card or Nevada Tribal ID. Since voting hours and locations differ by county, check the details before going out.
October 20: Final day to register online for a mailed ballot
If you want your ballot to be sent to your home then make sure you register or update your registration online by October 20. After that date you can still register. You will need to vote in person under Nevada’s same-day registration rules.

Can you still vote on November 3?
November 3: Election DayElection Day falls on a Tuesday this year. Polls are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. If you have not registered yet you can still do so on Election Day. Voters who register online during the same-day registration period must cast their ballots in person.
There is also a cutoff for hand-delivered ballots and ballot drop boxes: 7 p.m. If you are already in line to vote when the polls close stay there. You are allowed to vote.
November 7: Deadline for ballots
Mail ballots must reach the county election office by 5 p.m. On Saturday November 7 to count. For a ballot that arrives after Election Day the postmark must be dated November 3 or earlier.
So if you plan to mail your ballot to Election Day remember that it needs to be postmarked on time and reach the county office before the November 7 deadline.
Before Election Day: Check your voter registration
Not sure whether your registration is current? You can. Update it online before heading to the polls. Nevada’s voter portal also lets you see what is, on your ballot find your polling place and register to vote. With voting, automatic mail ballots and same-day registration available voters have several options. The key is knowing which deadline applies to you and giving yourself time to vote.
