Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is also the sole director of Twitter, has endorsed the Republican Party as millions head to vote in the US midterm elections in 2022. Taking to Twitter, the platform that he acquired only recently under the $44 billion acquisition deal, Elon Musk addressed the “independent-minded voters” to choose the Republican Party for Congress, especially considering how the presidency is Democratic.

Elon Musk wrote, “Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.” He posted a follow-up tweet in which he said that hardcore Republican or Democratic supporters will never “vote for another side” and hence, the billionaire asked the independent voters to support the Republicans as the United States heads for the high-stakes Midterm elections.

Just last Friday, four days before the US Midterm elections were set to begin, Elon Musk fired nearly 50% of the Twitter staff as he claims to hold the baton for making the microblogging platform the “most accurate source of information about the world”. However, it is to mention that along with the thousands of Twitter employees who lost their jobs, some units were also entirely terminated including its ethics, transparency and accountability team.

In the United States, the citizens vote for Congressional candidates every two years. The 35 Senate seats along with all 435 seats of the House of Representatives are on the ballot.
