US midterm election day 2026 weather forecast is out as met agencies have predicted rainy and extreme weather conditions in politically crucial states of Kansas, Texas, and Iowa. Met department has predicted that there will be thunderstorms from Texas to Missouri on Tuesday, November 3 when millions will cast their votes to decide who controls the two houses of US Congress -- Senate and House of Representatives. Weather department has also predicted that there will be heavy rainfall in upper Midwest states including Iowa and plains states such as Kansas.

There are reports a powerful storm system will hit west coast and central states. Inclement weather is also predicted for Nebraska and Colorado.

During the US Election Day on November 3, there could be heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds in parts of Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas.

There will be rainy weather in Minneapolis, Chicago, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Nebraska.

Thirty-five Senate seats and all 435 House seats are on the ballot on Tuesday. Republicans hold a 53-47 Senate majority and a narrow edge in the House. Losing either chamber would let Democrats block Trump’s agenda for his final two years in office and launch investigations of an administration that has so far faced largely compliant Republican majorities.

More than 52 million Americans have already voted in person or by mail, according to the University of Florida’s Election Lab, a record for a midterm and up from nearly 46 million who voted before Election Day in 2022.

President Donald Trump is returning to the campaign trail on Sunday with rallies in Iowa and Kansas, Republican-leaning Farm Belt states where his party is fighting to hold US Senate seats, two days before midterm elections that will decide control of Congress.

Meanwhile, President Trump's White House has spent months preparing for a possible Democratic takeover of Congress, developing plans to keep advancing major parts of his agenda through executive power while bracing for investigations of his administration, according to a White House official and two people familiar with the plans.

White House counsel Will Scharf and his team also are looking at "what Trump can legally do on his own, where he could push the limits of his authority and how to defend those decisions in court," the White House official said.
