US-Iran war could last four weeks, says Donald Trump, as per reports

US President Donald Trump said Sunday he envisages a four-week military operation against Iran, where American and Israeli strikes have killed the country's supreme leader and crippled its defense capabilities.

"It's always been a four-week process. We figured it will be four weeks or so," he told British newspaper the Daily Mail, the latest of several interviews with media outlets on Sunday.

"As strong as it is, it's a big country, it'll take four weeks -- or less," Trump said.


UK, France, Germany on US-Iran War


Meanwhile, France, Germany and the UK said on Sunday they were ready to defend their interests and those of its allies in the Gulf if necessary by taking "defensive action" against Iran.

The three countries' leaders were "appalled by the indiscriminate and disproportionate missile attacks launched by Iran against countries in the region, including those who were not involved in initial US and Israeli military operations", said the joint statement.

"We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through enabling necessary and proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran's capability to fire missiles and drones at their source," it added.


Oman Acts as Mediator between U.S. and Iran


Oman's foreign ​minister said on ​Sunday that the door to diplomacy between ‌the ⁠U.S. ⁠and Iran remains open, ​as regional tensions between ​the two countries continue.

"I still believe ​in the ⁠power of ‌diplomacy ​to ​resolve this conflict. ⁠The sooner talks are resumed ​the better it ​is for everyone," Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said in ‌a post on X.

Oman has ​been acting ​as ⁠a mediator in nuclear talks between the U.S. ​and Iran.
