The US continues to impose new sanctions on Russia targeting businesses and lawmakers while a resolute President Vladimir Putin declares annexing four regions of Ukraine and promises to win the conflict.

Hundreds of persons and organisations, including those involved in Russia's military-industrial complex and parliamentarians, were the targets of the broad-ranging sanctions that the US imposed on Russia in response to Moscow's declaration of annexation of parts of Ukraine.
Washington took action after Vladimir Putin announced on Friday that 15 per cent of Ukraine's land had been captured by Russian forces, marking the largest annexation in Europe since World War II.
