US election results: Is November 5 Polling day Federal Holiday? What's open and closed on Tuesday?

US election 2024 polling day is on Tuesday. While some of the entities will be closed on November 5, there are a few services which will function as usual.

Election Day for US Presidential Polls 2024 is here and American voters will have the final opportunity to pick their President between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on Tuesday, November 5.

There are often frequently asked questions whether November 5 polling day is a Federal Holiday or not. Apart from this, people are also curious about what will remain open and what will be closed. Election Day on November 5 is not a Federal Holiday.

Five states have a public holiday on Tuesday, November 5 and employees are compulsorily asked to cast their votes. These states are -- New York, Maryland, West Virginia, Hawaii, and Illinois.


Nine states will have a public holiday but employees are not forced to cast their votes. These nine states are New Jersey, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Rhode Island and Virginia.

What's Open and Closed on Election Day?

Banks will remain open as it is not a Federal holiday. However, branches in some states may be closed, as per a report on nbcnewyork.

Most of the schools in New York and New Jersey will be closed on Tuesday, November 5. In other parts of the country, schools will mostly remain closed, nbcnewyork reported.

Post-offices, UPS, and FedX will remain open on Election Day on Tuesday, November 5.

US Stock market will function as usual.

While transit will be working in New Jersey, New York, and other parts, courts will be closed on Election Day.
