US election 2024 results: Meet three candidates fighting against Donald Trump, Kamala Harris in November 5 polls

US election results 2024 will be declared soon as Republican candidate Donald Trump will face Vice President and Democratic party nominee Kamala Harris in a November 5 US presidential election already under way with early voting in some states.

Apart from the dominant duo of Harris and Trump, several third-party hopefuls are also running. Here are the candidates.

Libertarian Party-Chase Oliver

While the Libertarian Party invited Trump to its convention, it ultimately selected 39-year-old Chase Oliver. Oliver ran for a Georgia state Senate seat in 2022 and garnered 2 per cent of the vote, Reuters reported.

Green Party-Jill Stein

Jill Stein, a physician who ran under the Green Party in 2016, is running again in 2024. 74-year-old Stein launched her current campaign accusing Democrats of betraying their promises "for working people, youth and the climate again and again - while Republicans don’t even make such promises in the first place", as per the Reuters report.

Independent-Cornel West

Political activist, philosopher and academic Cornel West is making a bid to attract more progressive, Democratic-leaning voters. 71-year-old West initially ran as a Green Party candidate but in October said people "want good policies over partisan politics" and declared himself an independent. He has promised to end poverty and guarantee housing, according to Reuters report.
