Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had warned the US that strikes against Iran would "result in irreparable damage for them". Notwithstanding the warning, President Donald Trump decided to intervene and the USA military conducted "massive precision strikes" on Iran's Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz nuclear sites. Now the question arises whether the USA will go for Ali Khamenei or not.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had rejected Trump's proposal to surrender. The US President responded by warning that Washington knew whereabouts of the Iran's Supreme Leader. Now after the strikes at nuclear facilities in Iran, President Trump warned there would be additional strikes if Tehran retaliated against the US forces.

Trump has gone from publicly expressing hope that the moment could be a “second chance” for Iran to make a deal to delivering explicit threats on Khamenei and making calls for Tehran's unconditional surrender.

“We know exactly where the so-called Supreme Leader' is hiding,” Trump said in a social media posting. “He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now."

Wary of assassination, the 86-year-old Iran's supreme leader mostly speaks with his commanders through a trusted aide now, suspending electronic communications to make it harder to find him, three Iranian officials familiar with his emergency war plans say, NYT News Service reported.

Ensconced in a bunker, the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has picked an array of replacements down his chain of military command in case more of his valued lieutenants are killed.

Khamenei is aware that either Israel or the United States could try to assassinate him. Given the possibility, the ayatollah has made the unusual decision to instruct his nation's Assembly of Experts, the clerical body responsible for appointing the supreme leader, to choose his successor swiftly from the three names he has provided, as per a report on NYT News Service.
