Up to $25,000 on the line: Final days to claim cash from massive $30 million data breach payout.
Thousands of Americans could get cash after a big health care data breach. Patients of Integris Health, a health care system in Oklahoma, are included in a $30 million settlement. The case is about a data breach that happened on November 28, 2023. Court papers say patients’ personal information was exposed in the breach.

The lawsuit says patient data “could have been accessed or acquired”, putting people at risk of fraud and identity theft. The lawsuit claims Integris Health failed to use reasonable cyber security measures that could have prevented the breach,as reported by The Sun. Integris Health has denied any wrongdoing.

Data breach payout details

Even so, the company agreed to pay $30 million to settle the case. Under the settlement, affected patients can claim up to $25,000 for losses linked to the data breach. To get the full amount, patients must show proof of losses, such as receipts or bills. Patients who do not have documented losses can instead get a pro-rata cash payment estimated at about $100.

Class members are also eligible for three years of free credit monitoring from all three major credit bureaus. This service also includes up to $1 million in identity theft insurance. The deadline to file a valid claim is December 22, as noted by The Sun.

Another data breach settlement

This case follows another data breach settlement involving Communication Federal Credit Union (CFCU). CFCU faced claims over a data breach that took place between December 31, 2023, and January 11, 2024.

The breach exposed names, birthdays, home addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, bank details, and card numbers. CFCU did not admit wrongdoing, but agreed to pay $2.9 million to settle the claims. Under that deal, U.S. residents can choose cash or reimbursement for breach-related costs.

Customers with documented losses can claim up to $7,500 for costs like credit issues, ID replacement, communication expenses, and fraud losses, as noted by The Sun report. Proof such as receipts or bank statements is required to claim these costs. People with no out-of-pocket losses can get a pro-rata payment estimated at $125, though the final amount depends on how many claims are approved.
