'Under Paris': Netflix film, compared to Steven Spielberg's 'Jaws', called 'semi-classic'. All you should know

Have you ever liked those big shark movies? If you are a fan of this type of movie, then you are lucky with Netflix’s new release which has been a massive hit among fans and critics. Critics have also termed this new movie as the best-ever shark movie in recent times. This movie is apt for its June 5 release on the occasion of World Environment Day. The movie has been titled “Under Paris”. It has attained an impressive score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. This has been reported by Yahoo.

Writing in the 'Guardian', Stuart Heritage said that “Netflix has delivered one of the best shark movies ever made”. Others have compared this to the all-time favorite ‘Jaws’ and described it as a stand-alone semi-classic of the genre.

Storyline

The French capital of Paris and the scenic river Seine attract tourists from all over the world and is a sight to behold for all, especially when seen from the top of the Eiffel Tower. It is the summer of 2024. The city is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine River. It seems to be a normal sporting event much like the Tour De France, which is a cycling event, that also takes place in France.


However, things are about to take a nasty turn. Sophia, who is a brilliant scientist is warned by Mika who is a young environmentalist activist, that a large shark is swimming deep in the river. This is capable of endangering the life of Parisians who love to spend their weekends, especially on the riverside, during summer. There is the additional sports event which has the potential of creating a blood bath in the middle of Paris. Can they prevent this? They have no choice but to team up with Adil who is the Seine River Police Commander to stop this catastrophe.

The three main characters are Sophia, Mika and Adil. This is played by Berenice Bejo, Lea Leviant and Nassim Lyes respectively.
