UFC President Dana White took to social media on Thursday night to unveil a lineup of seven fights set to unfold between UFC 298 on February 17 and UFC 300 on April 13.

A standout bout among these announcements is a middleweight clash featuring former champion Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa at UFC 298. Whittaker, who last competed on July 8 and suffered a knockout loss to Dricus du Plessis, faces Costa, returning from an 18-month hiatus since his victory over Luke Rockhold. Despite a previously scheduled bout against Khamzat Chimaev in October, Costa had to withdraw due to surgery.

Adding to the excitement is the welterweight showdown between Geoff Neal and Ian Machado Garry, originally set for UFC 299 but now moved up to UFC 298. This pay-per-view event, set in Anaheim, will be headlined by the featherweight championship clash between Alexander Volkanvski and Ilia Topuria.


Another eagerly anticipated return is that of fan-favorite featherweight Brian Ortega, who has been absent since sustaining a shoulder injury during his main event bout against Yair Rodriguez on July 22. Ortega is set to rematch Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night in Mexico City on February 24, featuring as a five-round co-main event.

Earier in December, Leon Edwards managed to hang on to his welterweight title on Saturday night, beating Colby Covington by unanimous decision in their main event bout at UFC 296 in Las Vegas.

Edwards took all three cards by the same score, 49-46, to successfully defend the UFC welterweight belt for the second time. He also did so back on March 18, when he defeated Kamaru Usman by majority decision.

Usman was the one who gave up the title to Edwards (22-3-0), losing to him by knockout on August 20, 2022. Edwards hasn't lost a UFC fight since December 19, 2015.
