UFC Champion Israel Adesanya arrested by JFK police. Here's why

Israel Adesanya, a famous UFC champion, was briefly arrested by the JFK police at the airport due to a brass knuckle duster in his possession.

UFC Champion Israel Adesanya was asked to step aside when the authorities spotted a brass knuckle duster in his luggage. Laws in some states in the USA, including New York, prohibit knuckle dusters and possession of them could lead to imprisonment of up to 1 year and fines. However, the discretion lies with the authorities about whether they consider a person hostile.

Israel Adesanya cooperated fully with the authorities when cautioned about the weapon in his fan. He informed the police that the weapon was a gift from a fan and had just loaded it into his luggage. After a brief arrest, his manager Tim Simpson said that Israel was allowed to go, and the case was dismissed. The issue happened around 2 pm ET, and the champion was allowed to fly back home to New Zealand. It is, however, too early to determine if legal problems are still pending against Israel on this count.
