A Uber consumer was in for a shock when he got out of bed with a hangover and a $39,317 Uber bill for just a 15-minute ride in the UK.

After working for a shift at the Buxton Inn in Manchester, England, Oliver Kaplan, 22, recently booked a ride using Uber's app. The chef had arranged to meet friends at the nearby pub, Witchwood, which is only four miles away.

When asked about the shocking cost of the ride, Kaplan said that he had booked an Uber like he does most nights on the way home from work, and everything seemed normal. He asserts that the app's pricing quotation ranged between $11 and $12, which he gladly accepted.

Kaplan didn't give the event another thought until the following day when he got a message from Uber.

The following day, when he woke up with a hangover, he saw that he was charged nearly £35,000 or $39,317.

Kaplan quickly used the app to get in touch with Uber's customer service division to ask about the outrageous fee. The sum originally baffled Uber employees. He didn't have enough money to cover the sum; therefore, it couldn't be taken. It's unknown what went wrong, but it's conceivable that a mistake led to the location changing from Witchwood, the Manchester bar, to Witchwood, an Australian park in Victoria.

Uber fixed it immediately. The company also said that it deeply regrets any inconvenience caused.
