U.S. stock market investors are waiting for Netflix results on Tuesday even as S&P 500, Dow Jones, Nasdaq futures sank ahead of Tuesday's regular trading at the Wall Street.

U.S stock futures are down on Tuesday ahead of regular trading following President Donald Trump's Greenland threats and counter by NATO and EU allies. S&P 500 was down 1.4 per cent, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.3 per cent and the Nasdaq composite was down 1.7 per cent in the pre-market trading. U.S. stock markets are closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day or MLK Day 2026.

Wall Street investors will be counting on a strong corporate earnings season to keep the U.S. stock market rally intact as they digest a ⁠wave of domestic policy proposals and heightened geopolitical tensions to start the year. After banks and other financial firms kicked off fourth-quarter reports, a more diverse set of companies, including Netflix , Johnson & Johnson and Intel, will post results in the coming week.

U.S. stock market investors are waiting for Netflix results on Tuesday. The streaming giant will draw added attention due to its high-stakes battle with Paramount Skydance for ‍Warner Bros Discovery in a deal that stands to shake up the media landscape. Focus will be on corporate outlooks, with hopes high for 2026. S&P 500 companies overall are expected to increase earnings by more than 15 per cent in 2026.


"I continue to believe that the ‍most important thing right now ⁠is earnings," said Chris Fasciano, chief market ⁠strategist at Commonwealth Financial Network. "If we continue to get good earnings, I think that will be supportive for the market."

On Friday, The S&P 500 slipped 0.1 per cent Friday after a day of wavering between gains and losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2 per cent, and the Nasdaq composite fell 0.1 per cent.

For the year, S&P 500 is up 94.51 points, or 1.4 per cent, Dow Jones is up 1,296.04 points, or 2.7 per cent, Nasdaq is up 273.40 points, or 1.2 per cent, and Russell 2000 is up 195.83 points, or 7.9 per cent.
