U.S Senate race: Several incumbent Democrats at risk of being defeated by Republicans
A recent CNN poll indicates that Republican contenders for the Senate are drawing closer to their Democratic rivals in crucial battleground states.

According to a recent CNN poll by SSRS, Republican candidate for the Senate in Pennsylvania, Dave McCormick, tied incumbent Senator Bob Casey Jr., D-Pa., in the state's top battleground. In the poll, McCormick's campaign appeared to be gaining ground on Casey's advantages as the incumbent and the well-known family with strong Pennsylvania ties, as the two polled at 46% apiece. Previous polls have shown McCormick lagging Casey to differing degrees, with analysts noting that the former has difficulty with name identification. But with less than ten weeks until the general election, it seems that voters are paying attention, particularly in Pennsylvania, a major battleground state, and those who lean Republican are supporting McCormick's candidacy.

There are other states where Republican candidates are drawing nearer to their rivals than Pennsylvania. In the most recent poll, Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., was challenged by former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, who came in just three percentage points behind him, 47% to 44%. All of the races are becoming more competitive because GOP strategists have projected that as the election draws closer, regular voters will start to pay attention and will start to support GOP candidates.
The Cook Political Report, a reputable nonpartisan political handicapper, continues to label the Senate races in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada as lean Democratic. With a toss-up rating, the handicapper believed that Michigan's race had the best chance of going Republican on election day.
