U.S. Elections: Trump was not an acceptable candidate for conservatives, says his ex-NSA John Bolton
John Bolton cautioned Republicans against anticipating a flowering of conservatism if Donald Trump is re-elected.

Following his suggestion that Nikki Haley, another former Trump official, lacked leadership by caving into the former president, Bolton issued a warning to other conservative Republicans, telling them to brace themselves for disappointment should Trump win reelection. During Monday's interview, Bolton, whose lengthy career in government service included time spent in both the Reagan and Bush administrations, continued to make the case that Trump is neither a true conservative nor a Republican.
Bolton said during an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that even though Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz Cheney recently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, he still plans to write in Cheney as his presidential choice. The fact that Liz and Dick are both voting for Harris has put a wrench into my plan to double or triple the nationwide Cheney vote, Bolton joked. It's important that we not allow the Republican Party to be turned into a cult of personality.

Whether Trump wins or loses, there will be a struggle within the Republican Party between the Trump wing and what I would refer to as the Reaganite wing. And a great deal is at stake.
Earlier this year, Bolton told Newsweek that a second term for Trump would be four years of continuing crisis and that it might do irreversible damage to the nation. He also predicted that Trump would continue to appoint enablers to work in his administration without taking responsibility for their actions. The country won't be well served.
