U.S. Elections: Melania ditches Donald, leaves Trump alone on debate night against Kamala Harris

Melania Trump, Donald Trump's wife, is known for remaining subtle, elusive, and off the campaign trail, even as she promotes her new book and her husband takes on a new political opponent. She is known for keeping her son Barron at home with her and avoiding significant political events. Melania Trump skipped the presidential debate yesterday.

However, Donald Trump did travel to Philadelphia with a large entourage, including a number of his staff members and important family members, before he took the stage for the debate at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. Despite leaving his wife behind, he took well-known, divisive conservative media influencer Laura Loomer on his plane ride. Besides spreading numerous conspiracy theories about Harris, Loomer has also attacked the vice president with racist and sexist remarks.

Yesterday’s debate was attended by Donald Trump's son Eric Trump and his wife Lara Trump, who is also the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, according to ABC News.

Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida and former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has been helping Trump prepare for the debate, travelled with him from Florida to Philadelphia. Along with senior staff members Chris LaCivita, Susie Wiles, Steven Cheung, Corey Lewandowski, and Jason Miller, his lawyer Alina Habba, was also travelling on his plane.

Melania has a history of missing out on discussions and important gatherings. She did not attend the Joe Biden debate on June 27. She has also avoided going door-to-door. This year, the former First Lady has missed a number of important occasions, such as Trump's Super Tuesday celebration and the Iowa 2024 election launch.

Melania cryptically said to stay tuned, in response to a question about whether she would run for office, but she has remained out of the spotlight.

Olivia Troye, a former national security adviser in the Trump administration, and Anthony Scaramucci, the former director of communications for President Trump, are reportedly being hired by Kamala Harris to provide spin for her post-debate remarks.

Before the commencement of the debate, Democrats also addressed the press. Democrats are using this action as part of a larger plan to attack Trump.
