Two people were killed and ten persons were reported missing after Typhoon Hinnamnor, one of the fiercest storms to ever hit South Korea's shores. However, the typhoon found its way out to sea more quickly than forecasts had anticipated, causing torrential rain and powerful gusts on Tuesday but sparing the country from the significant harm that many had feared.
Ten persons were reported missing and two deaths were confirmed by Tuesday afternoon, the authorities had declared. Property damaged across the country seemed to have been minimal. About 66,000 houses lost electricity, trees were felled and street lamps were shattered, and there was isolated but serious flooding.
The catastrophic floods that rocked South Korea last month, according to Cheong Tae Sung, a flood expert with a government organisation called the National Disaster Management Research Institute, have increased public and official awareness of the risks associated with a large storm.

However, despite its strength, the storm itself did not cause as much damage as initially anticipated. Hinnamnor was the eighth-strongest typhoon in the history of South Korea by that metric when its eye made landfall on the country's southern coast at 4:50 am. However, it was not the most potent storm to ever make landfall there.

And it moved across the southeast part of the nation quicker than planned, slipping back out to sea by 7:10 am., and causing less damage to the nation's infrastructure than anticipated.
Hinnamnor continued northeast and was about 270 miles off the east coast of South Korea by the end of the afternoon. According to the Korean Meteorological Service, it was forecast to pass 240 miles northwest of Sapporo, Japan, on Tuesday.
15 people were murdered nationwide by the record-breaking downpour that hit South Korea a month ago. President Yoon Suk-yeol committed to take action to stop a repeat after receiving criticism for his answer. The administration increased its emphasis on the necessity of evacuation as Hinnamnor drew closer. Over a five-day period, it distributed 412 mobile safety notifications about typhoons, including orders to evacuate, across various areas.
