Two deputies shot at Walton Kentucky apartment complex; SWAT and emergency crews on scene

Two law enforcement deputies were shot Thursday night (August 28) at Towne Creek Crossing Apartments, sources confirmed to WLWT. The incident occurred behind a Kroger grocery store, with police first responding to the scene around 10 pm. This comes after a series of deadly shooting incidents in recent days, including a Minnesota shooting in which two children were killed and more than a dozen others injured, and a Los Angeles shooting outside a market in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood that left five people injured.

According to police sources, one deputy sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, while the other was shot in the leg. Both officers were reported to be in stable condition. At least one deputy was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.

A heavy police presence, including SWAT units, remains at the scene. Dozens of emergency vehicles and officers have been involved in securing the area.

At this time, authorities have not released details on what led to the shooting. Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
