X Down: Is the app working on mobile phones for some users? Here’s what we know about the desktop
A widespread Cloudflare outage on Tuesday triggered service disruptions across several major platforms, with users reporting that X is down on both mobile and desktop. The incident also affected Facebook, Amazon Web Services, OpenAI and ironically, outage-tracking site DownDetector, which itself experienced issues amid the surge in user reports.

Cloudflare acknowledged the problem, stating it is investigating a “major issue” impacting its global network. The company’s system status dashboard cited widespread 500 errors, along with failure of its dashboard and API services.

Users Report Mixed Access on X Mobile App

Reports of twitter down and x down began emerging around 11 am UK time. A significant number of mobile users said they were unable to refresh timelines, send posts, or log into their accounts, while some desktop users managed intermittent access upon refreshing pages.

On x down detector, nearly 58% of the complaints were related to the X mobile app, while 32% were linked to website loading issues. Affected users encountered messages citing an “internal server error on Cloudflare’s network.”

Wider Impact Across Global Websites

The outage also disrupted access to websites such as Letterboxd and other platforms dependent on Cloudflare’s network infrastructure. For several users, pages failed to load entirely, showing Cloudflare’s error screens.

This follows a major Amazon Web Services disruption in late October, caused by a DNS error that led to failures in over 100 services. While Tuesday’s outage appears unrelated, experts note that both underscore the vulnerabilities of large-scale, interconnected internet infrastructure.

Cloudflare has not yet identified the root cause, stating only that its teams are continuing their investigation. No estimated time for a fix has been provided so far.
