A Tesla Cybertruck which exploded outside the Trump International Hotel located in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day eventually resulted in the death of the driver and injuries to seven bystanders, reported Associated Press.

According to Associated Press, the vehicle contained firework mortars and camp fuel canisters while leading the concerned authorities to investigate the incident as a potential act of terrorism. The explosion occurred shortly after the truck, rented through the Turo app actually arrived at the hotel around 8:40 AM local time.

The FBI is working to confirm the identity of the driver who was reported to be a US Army veteran. Video footage from Tesla charging stations helped track the movement of the vehicle from Colorado to Las Vegas, asserted Associated Press.


Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that the explosion was caused by explosives carried in the truck bed and emphasized on the fact that all vehicle telemetry was normal at the time of the blast.
