Tupac Shakur's stepdad Mutulu released from jail after 40 years for 1981 Brinks heist

Tupac Shakur's infamous stepfather was released from prison after serving almost 40 years for his participation in the 1981 Brinks armored truck heist, which resulted in the deaths of two Nyack police officers and a security guard.
According to reports the US Parole Commission has approved the release of Mutulu Shakur, a former Army Member from Black Liberation, at the age of 72 years. Parole officials examined Mutulu's conduct in the jail, his health, and length of incarceration. His probable release was revealed in court papers made public last month, according to reports.
Mutulu was married to Tupac's mom, Afeni, throughout the '70s and '80s. Unfortunately, in 1996, Las Vegas was the scene of the drive-by shooting and subsequent death of Tupac, a globally acclaimed rap artist.
Mutulu Shakur, a member of the radical group "The Family," in which he was associated with members of the Black Liberation Army and the Weather Underground, committed 12 robberies in the years preceding Rockland County’s deadly Brinks attack.

Mutulo evaded detection for years and remained on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list. He was finally apprehended on February 12, 1986, in California.
