Tupac Shakur to be posthumously honored with star at Hollywood Walk of Fame

On the Hollywood Walk of Fame, slain rapper Tupac Shakur will be honored with a star posthumously.

A star will be unveiled in honor of slain rapper Tupac Shakur on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On behalf of the family, his sister Shekiwa ‘Set’ Shakur will accept the star. It will be the 2,578th star since the inception of the Walk of Fame in 1962.

Jamal Joseph, author of the 2006 biography ‘Tupac Shakur Legacy’ and a producer of `Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur and Allen Hughes, director of the FX docuseries ‘Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur’ will address the gathering in front of Amoeba Music.


Tupac Shakur’s music career spanned only five years, during which he sold more than 75 million records and received six Grammy nominations.

Shakur made his debut in 1991 with his first solo album ‘2PacalypseNow’. The Recording Industry Association of America also certified it as gold for selling 923,455 units.

His second album ‘Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z’ sold more than one million copies and was certified platinum.

Tupac Shakur was mired in a controversy in 1995 when he was convicted for forcibly touching a woman’s buttock in his hotel room. His third album ‘Me Against the World’ came when he was still in jail.

It sold more than 3.5 million copies and was certified double platinum. Shakur also received a Grammy nomination for best rap album. His song ‘Dear Mama’ was nominated for best rap solo performance.

‘All Eyez On Me’, was Shakur’s fourth album. It got a Grammy nomination for the best rap album.

‘Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z’ were nominated for a Grammy award for best rap performance by a duo or group.

‘All Eyez On Me’ proved to be his career-best album and was certified diamond and sold 5,887,630 copies.

Tiupac’s mother Afeni Shakur was a member of the Black Panther Party in Baltimore and she moved to Marin City along with him.
