The Miami Dolphins snapped their winless streak with a 27-21 victory over the New York Jets on Monday night in Miami Gardens, Florida. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw two touchdown passes to tight end Darren Waller, helping Miami overcome the loss of star receiver Tyreek Hill to a potentially serious left knee injury.

Hill was carted off late in the third quarter after making a 10-yard catch, twisting his leg awkwardly on landing. He finished the game with six catches for 67 yards and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Running back De’Von Achane carried the Dolphins’ ground attack with 99 yards and a touchdown, while linebacker Jordyn Brooke recorded a season-best 18 tackles. Tagovailoa completed 17 of 25 passes for 177 yards. Miami led 10-3 at halftime, including a 47-yard field goal by Riley Patterson and a 4-yard Waller touchdown from Tagovailoa on fourth down, capping a 96-yard drive after Jets running back Braelon Allen’s early goal-line fumble.

Garrett Wilson caught six passes for 82 yards and a touchdown, while Breece Hall totaled 111 scrimmage yards. Allen exited with a knee injury in the second quarter. The Jets never led but pulled within six points late after Fields’ 23-yard touchdown to Wilson and a successful two-point conversion.

Waller recovered the ensuing onside kick, allowing Miami to run out the clock. The Dolphins extended their lead with Achane’s 9-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and held off New York to secure their first win of the season under new coach Mike McDaniel.
