Donald Trump will soon be taking charge of the White House as the US President in January 2025. As soon as he assumes his role, he is expected to impose tariffs on foreign imports as well as introduce strict immigration policies, something that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is quite critical of. Trump has now been engaged in a war of words with the Canadian Prime Minister and has even stated that Canada should become the 51st state of the US, if Trudeau is not able to handle tariffs and immigration, according to a Fox News report.

Is Justin Trudeau opposing Trump tariffs?

Trudeau is of the opinion that Trump tariffs, that could become a reality when the President-elect will take charge, is quite inflationary in nature and could kill the national economy. Trump is currently threatening to impose a whopping 25 per cent tariff on Canada and Mexico respectively, based on their failure to curve the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States. Moreover, Trump is of the opinion that tariffs should also be imposed on US' neighboring countries based on the fact that they have been unable to stop illicit drugs from being smuggled into the United States.
