AFM condemns President Trump's remarks on musicians

President Donald Trump recently launched personal attacks on renowned musicians Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen. He referred to Swift as "no longer hot" and labeled Springsteen as "highly overrated" and "dumb as a rock" in his posts on social media platform, Truth Social, on May 16, 2025.

These comments have been met with widespread condemnation from the music community.

The American Federation of Musicians (AFM), representing over 65,000 professional musicians across the United States and Canada, responded swiftly. AFM President Tino Gagliardi issued a statement defending both artists, asserting, "Musicians have the right to freedom of expression, and we stand in solidarity with all our members." He emphasized that both Swift and Springsteen are not only talented musicians but also role models and inspirations to millions worldwide.
