Donald Trump became angry with a reporter who asked about a term being used on Wall Street. The term is “TACO trade,” which stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out” on tariffs. The reporter said this is why the stock markets were doing well that week, as per reports.

She asked Trump, “What’s your response to that?” Trump misheard at first and replied, “I kick out?” The reporter corrected him and said, “Chicken out.” Trump said, “I’ve never heard that.” He got defensive and said his tariff threats were part of negotiation, according to the report by Deadline.

Trump explained, “You set a number, if I set a ridiculously high number, I go down a little bit, they want me to hold that number. 145% tariff.” He claimed the high tariff made trade stop, and that he knew it would stop trade, but it was a tactic. Trump said, “Don’t ever say what you said. That’s a nasty question.” Trump said his tariffs got China and the European Union to come to the negotiation table, as mentioned in the reports.

Recently, after U.S., China talks, the U.S. agreed to lower the tariff to 30% for 90 days. China also brought down their tariff to 10% as part of the deal. This whole incident happened in the Oval Office after Jeanine Pirro was sworn in as interim U.S. attorney for D.C where Trump was talking to reporters.
