US President Donald Trump was trolled for apparently making a massive gaffe in a post about Uzbekistan’s deal with Boeing related to the purchase of 787 Dreamliners. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, he congratulated the President of Uzbekistan, Mirziyoyev, on the deal worth $8 billion. While mentioning the number of Dreamliners Uzbekistan is willing to buy, the US president wrote, “Uzbekistan Airways is purchasing 22,787 Dreamliners.”

In the post, he mentioned “22,787 Dreamliners,” whereas the actual number is 22. The entire confusion stemmed from the incorrect use of the punctuation mark, the comma.

“Earlier this month I spoke with the Highly Respected President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Today I want to congratulate President Mirziyoyev on signing a GREAT Deal with Boeing! Worth over $8 Billion Dollars, Uzbekistan Airways is purchasing 22,787 Dreamliners. This will create over 35,000 jobs in the United States. President Mirziyoyev is a man of his word, and we will continue to work together on many more items! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump said in the post.

The confusion due to the misplacement of the punctuation mark caught the attention of social media users who were quick enough to mock Trump over the mistake. “This is not a joke, Uzbekistan is buying 22,787 Dreamliners ; they should make it a round number like 25,000 :-) What a difference punctuation makes, it is 22 Boeing 787 Planes.., an X user wrote.

“Trump didn’t space properly and now his posts looks like Uzbekistan committed to buying “22,787 Dreamliners” instead of (22) 787 Dreamliners from Boeing,” another wrote while reacting to Trump’s Truth Social post.

“This functionality illiterate sack of shit doesn’t know how to use a comma. It’s apparently 22 787 Dreamliners,” a third user commented. “22 planes called the 787 Dreamliner. Not 22,787 of them,” another user wrote pointing out the error.

According to the data available on Boeing website related to 787 Dreamliners, the Aircraft industry company, has a total backlog of 934 aircrafts after Revenue Recognition Accounting Standard ASC 606 adjustment. The number of unfulfilled orders prior to this adjustment stands at 991.

The figures on the company’s website are as follows:
