Trump at it again: For the second time, he comments on Karoline Leavitt’s looks and lips

President Donald Trump has once again made headlines for his comments about White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s looks. The 79-year-old leader’s remarks came aboard Air Force One, where he shifted from policy talk to an unexpected observation about his 28-year-old press secretary.

During an informal exchange with reporters on Air Force One, President Donald Trump veered off from discussing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to bring up his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt. “How’s Karoline doing? Is she doing good?” Trump asked, before joking, “Should Karoline be replaced?”


When a reporter responded, “That’s up to you, sir,” Trump replied, “It’ll never happen. That face... and those lips, they move like a machine gun, right?” as quoted in a report by The Daily Beast.

Leavitt, who was also on the plane, later shared a photo on X praising the president as the “Hardest working POTUS ever.”

Has Donald Trump made similar remarks before?

This isn’t the first time Trump has made such a comment about Leavitt’s lips. In August, during an interview with Newsmax host Rob Finnerty, Trump repeated nearly the same analogy, as per a report by The Daily Beast.

“She’s become a star,” Trump said of Leavitt. “It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun... She’s a star and she’s great.”“She’s a great person, actually,” he added. “But she’s–I don’t think anybody has ever had a better press secretary than Karoline. She’s been amazing.”

Karoline Leavitt first joined Trump’s team as an assistant press secretary from 2019 to 2021 before running unsuccessfully for Congress. She returned to work for Trump in 2024 as his national press secretary during his campaign and became the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history after his second inauguration, as per a report by The Daily Beast.

Leavitt married real estate developer Nicholas Riccio in January, shortly before Trump’s inauguration. She recently moved into one of the largest offices in the White House, previously occupied by deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich.
