Trump administration releases Epstein jail cell video, but one mysterious minute is missing
The Justice Department's release of Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell footage, intended to quell doubts about his suicide, has backfired. A missing minute of video and the inability to view Epstein's cell door have fueled conspiracy theories. Despite of...

Though officials insist there was no foul play, inconsistencies, missing views of Epstein's cell, malfunctioning cameras, and altered footage, have only added to public skepticism about his death.
What’s actually missing from the Epstein footage?
Video from the New York jail where Jeffrey Epstein was detained on the day of his death in 2019 has been made public by the U.S. Department of Justice. The release is a part of the Trump administration's effort to persuade doubtful Americans that the child sex offender actually committed suicide. However, because there seems to be a minute or so missing, the video is only generating more conspiracy theories, as per a report by Giz Modo.
From the inside of the Metropolitan Correctional Center, the DOJ-released video starts at 7:30 p.m. on August 9, 2019, and ends at 6:40 a.m. on August 10. On August 10, at around 6:30 a.m., Epstein was discovered dead in his cell. On the evening of August 9, the video appears to jump from 11:58:58 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., which is the missing minute.
The entire DOJ-released video is nearly eleven hours long. The altered video is available on the DOJ website.
Why is the DOJ’s footage raising even more questions?
It is significant to note that the released video does not appear to show Epstein's cell door. At 7:49 p.m., Epstein met with his attorneys and was led to his cell. The video gives you an idea of the location of that cell, which is hidden from our view, as per a report by GizModo.According to a Reuters report released in August 2019, two cameras that were presumably closer and provided a better view of his cell door malfunctioned.
On social media, a lot of people have asked why the doors in the video differ from the images of Epstein's cell covered in police tape that were shown by 60 Minutes in 2019.
Who's pushing back against the official story?
Two versions of the video were made public by the DOJ. Epstein is not visible in either, but the first appears to be unaltered. The FBI made some minor changes to the second. Since prominent individuals like FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino were so adamant that any files be made public, people are angry that the DOJ appears to be hiding the truth about what happened to Jeffrey Epstein. There was no incriminating "client list" found in this systematic review. There was no reliable proof that Epstein had blackmailed well-known people as part of his scheme, according to the DOJ's recent statement. "No evidence that could support an investigation against uncharged third parties was found by us."
