Two students at Trinity College in Hartford, named Finn McCole and Lucas Turco, claimed to notice several students wearing BLM and LGBT Pride flags and decided to exhibit their mark of personal expression. However, they complained that their unique point of view wasn't greeted with the same civility.

Although the lady, allegedly a university employee, claimed that displaying flags in this manner constituted a safety danger, Turco said the woman refused to take the same attitude when questioned about a neighbouring LGBT flag.

While seeking to claim custody of the flags, the university employee protested against being videotaped. The worker later explained that the Dean's office was where the flags were kept and could be retrieved.

Nevertheless, McCole added that the Dean's office's later "great willingness to apologizing" for the occurrence doesn't change the reality that their office sought to forcibly remove patriotic symbols in what was viewed as hypocritical selective enforcement of laws.

Watters, a 2001 alumnus of Trinity, said that the school emphasized the stereotypical college experience by emphasizing athletics and parties and that there wasn't much politics on campus during his time there.
