Travis Kelce opens up about emotional Taylor Swift proposal, shares advice for young couples

Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, offered new, personal details about the moment he asked Taylor Swift to marry him, admitting the milestone left him nervous and with “sweaty palms.” In a pre-game interview with Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews on FOX, Kelce said the proposal produced “a few tears here and there” and called the experience an “exciting ride” he can’t wait to continue with Swift.

“How rattled did you get when you proposed?” Andrews asked.

Kelce also laughed off digging into every detail, noting that Swift “can tell that story,” but he did share a handful of small, candid moments. “The palms were definitely sweating,” he said, adding, “I’m an emotional guy,” before telling Andrews he “can’t wait to spend the rest of [his] life with her.” The comments were Kelce’s most public reflections on the engagement since the couple confirmed the news last month.


According to the Elle website, Andrews also asked Kelce about how Swift has influenced his life, and he gave a very sweet answer, saying, “She has brought excitement and a joy for life that made me a better man, made me a better person, and made me just that much more comfortable in who I am.”

Swift and Kelce announced the engagement on Aug. 26 with a series of photos posted to Swift’s Instagram account; the caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The images, which include a shot of Kelce kneeling and one that showcases Swift’s ring, were widely shared and discussed across social platforms and entertainment outlets.

When the conversation turned to advice for listeners who might be planning their own proposals, Kelce offered practical, relationship-focused advice. “You gotta know your gal, and you can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you gotta do it that way. “You might be able to get some ideas from how other people did it,” he added. “It might get the creative juices flowing. But know your partner, know who you’re doing it for. Everything else will be beautiful.”
