The Netflix show Emily in Paris lost its assistant director, Diego Borella, 47, who died during the shoot of the new season. During the finale shoot of the season 5 of Emily in Paris on Thursday, Borella suddenly collapsed in front of the whole crew at a Hotel Danielle in Venice—at about 7 pm. Though the medics rushed in on time—as per La Republica, Borella had already died.

The Venice health service confirmed, “Our ambulance arrived at 18.42 (Thursday evening). Medics made attempts to resuscitate him. But in the end all efforts proved fruitless. At around 19.30, he was pronounced deceased”, as reported by The Independent.

It is believed Borella suffered a heart attack. Production on the final episode of Season 5 has been halted following his death. The filming of Season 5 was originally supposed to wrap up on Monday, 25 August. Borella was reportedly set to shoot the very last scene before his sudden collapse. Netflix has not given any official statement yet.
