Tracy Beatty executed in Texas for 2003 murder of his mother and burrying body in backyard
Tracy Beatty, 61, was executed by lethal injection in Texas for the murder of his mother and the subsequent burial of her corpse in the back garden, notwithstanding the claims of his lawyers that he suffered from a history of mental illness.

He was convicted guilty of murder in the November 2003 shooting death of his mother, Carolyn Click, at her house in East Texas. Tracy Beatty's is the 13th person in the United States this year to be executed and the fourth in Texas.
Tracy Beatty, whose mother was 62 years old and lived in a mobile home, was accused by authorities of spending her money on drugs and alcohol before burying her body near her home in Whitehouse, some 115 miles southeast of Dallas.
Beatty's lawyers filed a petition with the US Supreme Court to delay the execution on Wednesday morning, but the court denied the petition.
On Monday, Beatty's legal team asked the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to modify his death sentence to a lesser punishment or give him a six-month respite.
His attorneys had contended that he should be given a full assessment to establish whether or not he suffers from intellectual deficiencies and, as a result, should be spared the death sentence.
