Tour de Suisse: Gino Mader of Team Bahrain Victorious dies
Gino Mader of Team Bahrain Victorious crashed into a ravine and died while descending on the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse.

The medical staff rushed to the spot, resuscitated him, performed CPR on him, and airlifted him to Chur Hospital on Thursday, but he could be saved despite the best efforts of the hospital staff.

Team Bahrain Victorious has confirmed the tragic accident and the subsequent death.
Team Bahrain Victorious Milan Erzen said in a statement, “We are devastated by the loss of our exceptional cyclist, Gino Mader. His talent, dedication, and enthusiasm were an inspiration to us all. Not only was he an extremely talented cyclist, but a great person off the bike. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”

The cycling Federation UCI tweeted to express condolences and said that Gino was a rising star.
Tour de Suisse said in a statement, “We are heartbroken! Gino, you've been an excellent rider but even more a wonderful person! Always smiling and making people happy around you! Rest in peace! Our thoughts are with Gino's family!”

Earlier, Gino Mader had won a stage of the Giro d'Italia in 2021. He had finished fifth overall that year at the Vuelta a Espana. He finished fifth at Paris-Nice.
Raced over eight days, Tour de Suisse is an annual road cycling stage race. It covers two weekends in June, and along with the Criterium du Dauphine.
Tour de Suisse is considered a proving ground for the Tour de France, which is on the calendar approximately two weeks after the end of the Tour de Suisse.
