The third-ranked Topuria, maintaining an unblemished record, aims for a similar breakthrough. The former featherweight champion confidently predicts an early stoppage within the opening minutes of the contest.
This bout marks Topuria's lightweight division return following his featherweight title abdication in April, as he pursues champion status in two divisions. He understands the significance of potentially defeating a veteran like Oliveira in the opening round.
Topuria secured the featherweight title in February 2024, defeating Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298, and successfully defended against Max Holloway at UFC 308 in October.
Topuria anticipates an aggressive start from Oliveira, influencing his prediction of an early finish. However, the 35-year-old Oliveira, who last held the title in 2022, dismisses these claims as mere rhetoric.
"In reality, everyone knows what's going to happen," said Oliveira. "He's another guy talking who's going to fold in front of me. This is something huge. About legacy, about dreams, about how much I'm alive and hungry for it. That's what I am. I'm going to be a champion again."
