Former NBA star Tony Snell has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of 31. As Tony and his wife Ashley noticed that their 2-year-son Karter was slow in development, they took him to a doctor. He underwent tests and was diagnosed with autism. It inspired Tony to take tests and he too was diagnosed with this disease, Tony Snell told NBC's 'Today'.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a mental disorder condition, it is related to the brain and it changes the pattern of behavior of a man. It is a spectrum disorder and each person with this disease has a different set of challenges. Some people with autism need too much support in their daily life, some need less support while some other are entirely independent and needs no support.

Tony Snell said that he was not shocked, rather, he felt relieved that this was what he was, and he behaved in a particular way because of this disorder. He also said that he always felt alone and could not connect well with the people.

He said the diagnosis was a life-changing moment for him, he could understand why he behaved like this. He also said after the diagnosis everything is now clear to him like a 3-D glass.

Snell said that his child will have his backing and he too would not feel alone anywhere. He also said that there is less awareness in the black community and many people do not know much about autism.

Chicago Bulls selected 20 probable players in 2013 and Tony Snell was one of them. After remaining with the Bulls for three years, he joined Milwaukee Bucks in 2019. He has also played for Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trailblazers ad New Orleans Pelicans. Snell signed Maine Celtics in January this year.
