Georgia Bulldogs offensive coordinator Todd Monken was hired by Baltimore Ravens as their new offensive coordinator, announced the team on Tuesday marking its first significant move to revive its deteriorating offense.

After Monken’s latest appointment with Ravens, Georgia announced that it promoted analyst Mike Bobo to offensive coordinator. The 57-year-old guided Georgia Bulldogs to win national championships consecutively. His offense averaged 501.1 yards and 40.7 points each game last season.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh selected Monken after going through a process including 21 interviews with 14 separate candidates in the last month. In a statement, the Ravens coach hailed Monken’s “leadership and coaching acumen” as evident since the start. Harbaugh also said that Monken has a “proven track record for designing and teaching offensive systems that allow players to succeed at the highest level”. Ravens coach further expressed excitement over Monken’s appointment and said that it will help the team in competing for championships.

Todd Monken was the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2016 to 2018 and Cleveland Browns in 2019. He then spent the last three seasons coaching at the college level. Under Ravens coach John Harbaugh, Monken is the seventh offensive coordinator. Harbaugh is now entering his 16th season on the team.

Monken was hired by Baltimore nearly a month after Greg Roman stepped down from the position. Remarkably, the team’s scoring decreased in each season with Roman. Ravens came down from 33.2 points per game in 2019 to 20.6 points per game in 2022.
