Todd Downing, the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, was detained early in the morning in Friday near Nashville, according to police.

Sharon Puckett, the spokesperson for the Office of Williamson County Sheriff, said that Downing got arrested by Tennessee Highway Patrol on DUI and speeding charges. The 42-year-old Downing was apprehended along Interstate 65 near Moores Lane in Williamson County, about 15 miles south of downtown Nashville.

A trooper was monitoring I-65 southbound at 2:30 a.m. when he noticed a vehicle going at a high rate of speed, according to a preliminary THP report. THP Sgt. Alex Campbell reportedly said in an email that the troopers paused at a car and spoke with the driver, who was identified as Downing.

Downing was arrested and placed in the Williamson County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. Downing was freed from jail on bail at 6:46 a.m. Friday, according to Puckett. It was unclear whether he had retained a counsel. On Thursday night, the Titans defeated the Green Bay Packers 27-17 in Wisconsin and came home.
