Toby Keith, the larger-than-life country music singer and songwriter, passed away on Monday at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy of beloved hits and memorable performances.

Announcing his death, Keith's official website stated that he "passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family," after bravely battling stomach cancer.

Throughout his career, Keith's chart-topping country hits, including "Who's Your Daddy?," "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," "Beer for My Horses," and "Made in America," solidified his status as a Nashville star.

In addition to his musical achievements, Keith made headlines with his outspoken political views, expressing admiration for figures like Sarah Palin and performing at President Donald Trump's pre-inauguration concert in 2017.

Born Toby Keith Covel on July 8, 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma, he released his first studio album in 1993 and went on to achieve widespread acclaim. Beyond music, Keith ventured into acting, starring in films like Broken Bridges (2006) and Beer for My Horses (2008).

Keith's feud with the Dixie Chicks over his patriotic anthem "Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)" became legendary in music history, sparking controversy and heated exchanges between the artists.
