The exact details of the passengers' final moments remain unknown, a year after the Titan submarine disaster. To save the five individuals inside the sub before their 96-hour oxygen supply ran out, a desperate search for them started on June 18 in the Atlantic Ocean. The whole world anxiously observed the passing of time. The US Coast Guard verified four days later that the OceanGate sub had exploded shortly after it began its dive.An hour and forty-five minutes into the dive, the sub lost contact with the MV Polar Prince, a research ship.

Confirmed deaths in Titan submarine disaster

Sadly, it was confirmed that explorer Paul Henry Nargeolet, UK billionaire Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood of Pakistan, and his 19-year-old son Suleman had all passed away. Officials from Canada and the US announced a year ago that they were starting investigations into the implosion as soon as the deaths were confirmed.

International Cooperation

Investigators from the US and Canada are receiving assistance from the governments of France and the UK. An International Maritime Organization report will be the ultimate product. As to the US Coast Guard, the probe is going to take longer than planned. As per the reports of 'Metro', the head of the Marine Board of Investigation, Jason Neubauer, described it as a difficult and continuous operation involving domestic and foreign partners.

An alleged log detailing the passengers' last moments was shown to be fake. It was fabricated, Captain Jason Neubauer told the New York Times. The real communications log hasn't been released.

Operations suspended

As soon as the deaths were confirmed, OceanGate promptly stopped all commercial and exploratory operations. After the accident, there was intense criticism targeted against the sub's safety. Concerning CEO Stockton Rush's approach, former OceanGate employee David Lochridge expressed fears about safety. US millionaire Larry Connor revealed intentions to embark on his expeditions with Triton Submarines over a year later. As stated by the Independent and Wall Street Journal, his goal is to securely transport tourists to the crash site in 2026. Connor underlined the ocean's aesthetic value and its capacity to alter when handled responsibly.
