TikTok prohibited in US' Maryland due to 'national security threat'. Details here
Maryland issued a ban on using TikTok and other Chinese and Russian apps within the state government, citing persistent cybersecurity concerns.

The injunction also prohibited items from ZTE Corp, Huawei Technologies, Tencent Holdings, Alibaba, Kaspersky and Tencent QQ. Tencent is the owner of the popular messaging program WeChat. Alibaba owns AliPay, the world's largest third-party payment platform, which processes more transactions in mainland China than PayPal and Venmo combined.
Government staff will now be expected to delete all software from foreign firms' equipment and apply restrictions blocking installation or access to their services within 14 days.
Several federal authorities have issued similar warnings.
TikTok's algorithm, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray, might be used to 'influence operations against the American population.
In a Friday lecture at the University of Michigan, FBI Director Christopher Wray stated that the Chinese government had demonstrated a propensity to steal Americans' data on a massive scale.
Maryland is one of many states in the United States to prohibit the use of the popular app in government. Last week, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem signed a similar decree.
