Tiger Woods, the American professional golfer, is still featured in The Masters Field as there are less than two weeks left for the commencement of the First Major of 2022.

Speculations are still on whether the 46-year-old golfer would be able to play at Augusta National Golf Club. Tiger Woods awaits recovery from the recent car crash that required surgery on open fractures in his right leg. This initially created the possibility of amputation for the treatment.

In December 2021, Woods had lately returned to the game, starting with the PNC Championship parallel to his son Charlie. This was a two-day event where he had to use a golf cart to move on the ground.

What are the recent updates related to the issue?

On the official website of The Masters Feild, 16 of the former champions have been listed to be not competing for the present tournament, starting on April 7. Some of the distinguished names on the list include Phil Mickelson, who has proclaimed taking a break from the sport in the aftermath of his comments that created controversies related to the Super Golf League backed by Saudi.

Nevertheless, Tiger Woods is not on this list of exclusion, which keeps the possibility open for him for the Augusta return.

What was the recent performance of Tiger Woods?

As per the recent updates, Scottie Scheffler moved to the top position of the world rankings on Monday after winning the WGC Match Play. Woods has now dropped to 27 places more and is currently ranking at the 944th position globally.

This position is not a matter of surprise, observing his recent performance on the field. In his last competition, the November Masters in 2020, his Green Jacket defense was delayed due to Covid. In that competition, he had finished in a tie for the 38th.

In February, Woods had hosted the Genesis Invitational, where he revealed that he was still facing difficulty walking on the golf course. And considering the hilly terrains of Augusta National, that poses more issues for the movement on the golf course.
