A momentum shift in the US presidential race is underway, with polls showing Donald Trump gaining on Kamala Harris. Earlier this year, she had leads in battleground states, but her edges have narrowed or evaporated in these crucial battlegrounds.

With most of the recent polls pushing forward Donald Trump, the US presidential race is tightening. Already held leads by Vice President Kamala Harris, especially in battleground states, melted away quickly with Trump now closing the gap. Harris lost her lead or came out tied with Trump in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Poll numbers show this is a close race

As per a report by The Hill, polling data coming in from Decision Desk HQ indicates Harris has lost 4 percentage points over the past month. Although within the margin of error, strategists are starting to get a bit nervous about this drift and view it as significant.

Public Perceptions of Harris Dropping

Harris's voter perception also changed over the past few weeks. A recent NBC News poll reported a decline in Harris's favorability. From 48% before, positive ratings for Harris have decreased to 43%. This shift indicates the overall tightening of the race between the two candidates, as per the report of The Hill.

Betting Markets Now Favor Trump

Now, for the first time in weeks, betting markets at Polymarket and Kalshi show Trump going ahead of Harris. While Harris's campaign is optimistic and downplays fluctuating public polls, the race is to stay extremely close until Election Day.
