Thunderstorms in Louisiana: Widespread power outages witnessed in Jefferson and Orleans parishes

Thunderstorms on Sunday morning knocked out power to thousands of customers in Jefferson and Orleans parishes in the state of Louisiana. Entergy New Orleans estimated restoration between noon and 3 p.m.

On Sunday morning (July 23), thunderstorms wreaked havoc by knocking out power to several thousand customers in both Jefferson and Orleans parishes in Louisiana.

Entergy New Orleans has estimated that power restoration is most likely to occur between noon and 3 p.m. for the majority of the affected customers.

Among the impacted areas, Metairie suffered the largest outage, with nearly 3,800 customers expected to remain without power until 3 p.m. Other regions in Jefferson Parish were not spared either, as Destrehan had approximately 1,300 customers left without electricity, Kenner had 700, and about 1,600 customers on the West Bank of the parish were affected.


In the city of New Orleans, power outages affected around 2,200 customers in the Uptown area, approximately 200 in the Broadmoor-Central City area, and almost 5,100 customers on the West Bank in Algiers. For the Algiers customers, a restoration time of noon was estimated.
