With a high-powered offence and consistent performances across the regular season and playoffs, the Thunder surpassed the previous mark set by Golden State Warriors to establish a new standard for scoring excellence.
Entering Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers, the Thunder needed 68 points to surpass the previous mark. They reached it with 6:09 remaining in the third quarter, when NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sank a free throw to bring their season total to 12,162 points — eclipsing the 12,161 scored by the Golden State Warriors across 104 games in the 2018-19 season.
This game also marked Thunder’s 102nd official outing of the year. (Their 81 points in the NBA Cup final loss to Milwaukee in December are excluded from official season statistics.)
The record is just the latest highlight in a milestone-laden campaign for the Thunder, who also notched a franchise-best 68 regular-season wins.
