Her agent has confirmed that Tori Bowie, a three-time US Olympic medallist, passed away due to complications arising from childbirth. Tragically, Bowie, who was 32 years old, died at her residence in Florida in early May.

Kimberly Holland, Tori Bowie's representative, stated on Tuesday that Bowie was in labor at the time of her passing. Ms. Holland expressed her disappointment with the speculations made by various individuals, including the media, suggesting self-harm. In an interview with CBS News, she described these speculations as hurtful and expressed hope that with the revelation of the truth, apologies would be offered.

Hailing from Mississippi, Tori Bowie was a member of the victorious US 4x100m relay team that secured a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Additionally, she achieved personal success by earning a silver medal in the individual 100m race and a bronze medal in the 200m event.


In 2017, Tori Bowie attained the title of 100m world champion by securing a gold medal in the event held in London.

Following the news of her passing, Noah Lyles, a two-time world champion in the 200m and holder of the US record, expressed his heartbreak on Twitter. He conveyed his condolences to Bowie's family and assured them that they would remain in his prayers.

Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Jamaican three-time Olympic champion, expressed her condolences for Tori Bowie's family. In her message, Fraser-Pryce described Bowie as a remarkable competitor and a beacon of positivity. She emphasized that Bowie's vibrant energy and infectious smile will forever remain in her thoughts. Fraser-Pryce concluded by wishing Bowie eternal rest.
